On SD 50607.03, a replacement enhanced Nebula-class ship was launched as the NCC-5852-A, the Manticore-A. The original Manticore (which had already been a second "original" Manticore) was decommissioned and destroyed following the extensive artificial attack on it by the USS Babylon, as the two ships were uncovering the schemes of former Consul General Jaffe. After two months of the crew being marooned on Starbase 1 with no ship, the new ship and crew finally departed to investigate possible Klingon torture camps on Tanemo-9
