On SD 49805.25, Starbase 18 became the first starbase visited by the Manticore after it launched. It docked there for repairs following the shakedown cruise to Arna VI. This was also where Commander Sovak joined the crew as XO, following the death of the first XO, Adam Vern. Sovak is the full Vulcan half-brother to Vern.
On SD 50011.27, the Manticore docked at Starbase 18, following their observation of a Super Nova in the Yad system and the crew's subsequent shrinking, due to a biological bubble generated by the people of the 4th planet of the Yad system.
On SD 50012.18, the Manticore was involved with the destruction of the starbase. Admiral Pita had taken command of Manticore when a group of ships from Traalfam tried to attack the starbase. Due to a bizarre series of events, a Traalfam ship was disabled and shot wildly in the fight. The wild shot hit a freighter carrying an illegal shipment of Dilithium. The explosion destroyed the freighter, the Traalfam vessels and the starbase itself.
