The USS Hawk was a ship taking part of a commemorative event at Wolf 359. It was actually the lead in a plot to cause massive damage to Federation vessels and pin the blame on the Romulans. Captain Zang had towed a Romulan cruiser to the event, filled with explosives and dead Romulans. After the Manticore crew disabled the explosives, the Hawk was followed (under cloak) to its meeting with the Sovereign-class Dreadnaught, the USS Liberator. The Liberator destroyed the Hawk because of its failed mission, detected Manticore's presence and gave chase until Manticore hid in a moon's Lagrange point.
