On SD 50005.08, the Manticore was sent to Outpost 918 to discover why it had gone silent. It found the entire population dead from an epidemic and was able to follow an ion trail of the last ship to arrive at the outpost. It led Manticore to Xerxeria VI, the site of a long-abandoned fleet base.
When Manticore arrived, it was attacked by a group of small fleet of older, formerly moth-balled ships under the command of reactionary survivalist Koresh Branch. After nearly losing to the other side's overwhelming numbers, Manticore deployed an EMP to shut down all ships, including itself. The newer design allowed for Manticore to recover faster and, with the help of other Black Ops ships, it escaped from Xerxeria VI
